Newport
Most-specified surround. The model to price-check any vendor against.
See the Newport →Before you order a made-to-order cast stone surround, verify four things: an accountable business, photographs of real installations, a written lead time, and a named person who answers the phone. Oltre Castings & Design is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, and our standard lead time is six weeks.
A cast stone surround is made to order. You approve a drawing, send a deposit, and the stone is cast against your dimensions. There is no returns rack and no restocking after the pour. The leverage an architect, designer, or builder has over the outcome is spent before the order is placed. The same is true for a homeowner commissioning one surround in a lifetime.
Four checks separate a manufacturer that delivers from one that goes quiet after the deposit clears.
Start with a profile the company doesn’t control. The Better Business Bureau vets a business against its Standards for Trust before granting accreditation: verifiable contact and licensing information, honest advertising, and a binding commitment to respond to every complaint on the public record. A manufacturer can publish anything on its own website. An accreditation has to be earned and kept.
Oltre Castings & Design is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited February 2026. The rating and the complaint record sit on file with BBB Great West + Pacific, not with us. Run the same lookup on any manufacturer you’re comparing.
Product photography and 3D renders show what a profile is supposed to look like. Installation photos show what the shop actually delivers: how the finish reads in room light, how the joints sit, whether a carved detail like the Verona leg survives the trip from drawing to finishing bench. Ask for finished rooms, and ask for more than one.
Ours are in the installation gallery: real projects, photographed in place. If a manufacturer can’t produce equivalent photos, the renders are doing the selling.
A made-to-order timeline only protects you if it’s a number on paper. A range that moves every time you call is not a lead time — it’s a placeholder, and a job site can’t schedule trades around it.
Oltre’s standard production is six weeks, stated on every quote. Three-week expedited production is available at 35% above list when a move-in date demands it. Price-check any competing quote against a standard model like the Newport. The pricing and dimensions are published on the page, which is its own kind of vetting.
Call the shop and ask a technical question: firebox clearances, hearth depth, anchoring on a wood-framed wall. The answer tells you whether you’re talking to a manufacturer or a middle layer. Whoever picks up should know the casting floor.
Our line is (971) 314-9530, Monday through Friday, 8 to 4 Pacific. The person quoting your surround is two doors from where it will be cast. That’s the standard to hold every manufacturer to — ours included.
