How to measure your fireplace.
Four measurements are all we need to get started. Use a metal tape, write them down in inches, and add a photo if you have one.
Opening width
Inside edge to inside edge of the firebox opening. Measure at the top, middle, and bottom of the opening and record the smallest of the three.
Opening height
Firebox floor to the top inside edge of the opening. Measure on the left, center, and right and record the shortest.
Hearth height off the floor
From finished floor to the top of the hearth slab. If there is no hearth, write zero. If the hearth is being replaced, write the planned height.
Surrounding clearances
Note the distance from the opening to the nearest combustible: wall trim, cabinets, a mantel, or any millwork above. Flag any windows, outlets, or built-ins within 18 inches of the opening on either side.
Frequently asked questions.
How accurate is this fit check?
It checks your opening against the largest opening each size (Studio, Signature, Grand) is made to fit. Use it as a first check; we confirm the exact fit against the current spec sheet before you order.
What if no standard model fits?
We can make one to your exact size. Send us your measurements and a photo, and within two business days we’ll send a proposal with pricing, 2D drawings and 3D renderings. Custom work takes six to eight weeks once the design is approved and the order is placed. A custom piece can’t be returned once production starts, which is why you approve the drawings before we cast it.
How do I measure my firebox opening?
Use a metal tape. Width: inside edge to inside edge at the top, middle, and bottom; record the smallest. Height: firebox floor to the top inside edge at left, center, and right; record the shortest. Hearth: finished floor to the top of the hearth slab (0 if flush or no hearth).
Do you visit homes for measurement?
Yes, anywhere in our installation area: from Eugene to Portland (including Vancouver, Washington) and from Bend to the Oregon coast. Outside that area, we work from the photos and dimensions you send. Trade partners often handle on-site measurement for projects nationwide.
