Every Oltre surround ships from Salem, Oregon via FedEx Freight, crated in-house, to any address in the contiguous United States. Standard freight is free on standard orders. Transit runs five to seven business days after a six-week production window.
Cast stone is heavy and edge-fragile. Each surround leaves the shop in a custom-built wood crate sized to the components, foam-padded at every contact face, and braced to the deck. Crating is built on the floor by the same hands that cast and finished the piece. We do not outsource it.
A standard Newport crate runs 600 to 900 pounds depending on width. A larger model — the Lucca, for example — can clear 1,200 pounds with the hearth in the same crate. FedEx Freight handles the weight class without a special accessorial.
Pacific Northwest origin means the West Coast lands in two to four business days. The Mountain States and Southwest run three to five. The Midwest and the Southeast are typically five to seven. The Northeast is the longest standard transit at six to eight business days. We share tracking the moment the freight is on the road.
Standard freight covers a contiguous-US business or residential address with reasonable truck access — a regular driveway, a commercial loading dock, or a curbside drop where a pallet jack can clear the gate. The crate arrives on a 53-foot trailer with a standard liftgate where the address requires it.
What sits outside standard freight: limited-access locations (restricted residential, gated estate, mountain road), inside delivery, white-glove unboxing, and Alaska, Hawaii, or US territories. We quote those on a per-job basis before production starts. There is no surprise accessorial.
One crate per surround in most cases. Two crates for a wide model with a separate hearth or a multi-piece overmantel. The crate ships with a bill of lading attached, an installation drawing inside, and a sealed finish kit for any touch-up the installer needs after the surround is set.
If damage occurs in transit — uncommon, but it happens — we ask for a photo report within 48 hours of delivery. We file the carrier claim, cast and finish the affected piece, and re-ship at no charge.
Customers in the Salem and Portland metros can collect on site at 1947 Claxter Rd NE. We’ll have the crate ready on a forklift with the loading drawing on the deck. In-person installation is included for projects across Oregon and Washington — most surrounds set in a half-day with two installers and a level.
Production runs four to five weeks. Freight transit adds five to seven business days. The six-week window is the realistic door-to-door timeline. We don’t pad it; we don’t shave it. If a project move-in date is non-negotiable, three-week expedited production is available for 35% above list.
